I am in a major dilemma. I cannot decide for the life of me which MacBook Pro to get. A maxed out 15" MacBook Pro (2.16ghz) or a Maxed out 17" MacBook Pro.

I've been leaning towards the 17" because i'll be using it at home alot and I want a big screen, and i've been leaning towards the 15" because it's that nice perfect size that's portable, but not two big.

I like the size of the 15", but I like that the 17" is the best. I like to go for the best. But the 15" can have the same specs as the 17" with some upgrades, so I can have as good a laptop. I just can't decide.

I will be getting it with that really cool backpack, the $179 one. So i've been thinking that the large size of the 17" might not matter as much on the road since I'll have a very convienent way of carrying it.... but I'm still unsure.

I keep having a feeling that the 17" is just too big, and I don't need that much screen space, and it'll just be two big to carry around very easily.....

HELPP!!!!!

thanks

I'm a business major at ULM (accounting and finance actually) and constantly use word and excel (amazing how that program actually works in the accounting world when you know how to manipulate it to do what you want it to) and i'm going with the 17" because i'm currently running a 12" and it's hell in class, fortunately though, when i get home i have a 26" Samsung LCD to hook it up to. I got a booq bag for my 12" and will get a 17" sleeve when i go pick up my MBP (booqbags.com) and i love the BP3 system. good luck.

Do you have the 17" yet? Do you find it to be too bulky to carry around sometimes?

don't have yet, just stating my justification for the larger screen size, have to call tomorrow to get my apple financing decision, they needed to ask me some more questions because i subscribe to a credit monitoring service so i generally can't get instant approval via the internet. i will be getting a MBP even if that means driving to Dallas (4.5 hours away from West Monroe, Louisiana) to buy one.

If you're going to be using it at home a lot more, you should get the 17". I mean, if you do not carry the 17" a lot, it will be heavy those one or two times you do carry and so what? At least you'll have more screen space to work with at home and on the road. And battery life, i believe i saw, is better on the 17". You get the DL Superdrive. and it seems you have the money for either one. go with the 17". DOOOOO it. :)

I don't think that weight will be an issue, i think my 12" PB is in the bag @ 4.6 lbs, while the 13" MB is at 5.2 lbs, and 5.6 and 6.8lb weigh-ins for the 15" and 17" MBP respectively. We're talking a difference of 2.2lbs for me, and even at 10 lbs, its less than some textbooks in the backpack...
