15" or 17" MBPro?

Which of the two and why?
The 17" really looks too big for a laptop... no?
Plus that it doesnt have a led display (at least for now)!
Also the 17" has one more USB port!
Im a graphic designer and im not sure if the 15" really suites my needs or not and that 17" has a plentyer space to work on? Or is that justt misleading and the 17" display isnt that big in the end!

Damn im so puzzled, can i get some directions on this?

You're puzzled over this?? Okay, whatever.......

The only thing that anybody can really tell you is that you should go and look at them side by side in a store so that you can come to a decision that you are happy with.

However in terms of raw working space the 17", with the High Resolution display, has a 33% greater working area than a 15" display.

What resolution (pixel count) are you used to working at? Answering that would tell you which of the two (15" or 17") would come the closest to what you are used to.

well at home im on a 1280x1024 19" crt display and at work im with an LG Flatron 23" at 1920x1200... so what do u think?
 
Get the 15" MBP and invest in a widescreen LCD for home. That's what I did.
 
If you're worried about the workspace, get a 17". Yes, there is a huge difference over the 15". If you're not, get the 15".
 
guys, ok thnx for your views, but id like to see a screenshot on the two desktops. one from a guy that has the 15" and one from another guy that has the 17", if theres one with the 17" with the optional res, thats also welcome! just make a command+shift+3 on your dektops guys, its enough for me!!!

Well in what way do u think it doesnt help you? Give me some examples!

And whats your opinion regarding the optional higher res of the 17"?

And the lack of led display????

I don't find anything special about your post either, so put this "Help me decide because I can't make a decision on my own" thread along with the others that I find everyday on these boards.

You're simply talking about the screen like countless other posters do, either go to the store and check them out or go to Apples website, get some paper and draw the measurements of the screen size out for comparisions sake. Of course this doesn't help with pixel density.

Before anybody quips up and asks me why I bothered replying in this thread like you guys normally do, I'll answer now by saying I don't know.

That is the one thing that made me opt for the 15". I tried the 17" for a couple of days around the house and found it more cumbersome than I expected - especially since the physical dimensions are not that much different.

However - a true HD screen with LED backlighting migh make me rethink things in the future :rolleyes:
 
15" and widescreen LCD is ftw. I'm in graphic design as well, and have found it to be the perfect compromise in terms of portability and screen real estate. If you really need the extra space, however, don't hesitate to go with the 17". Hopefully we'll see higher resolution displays in the 15" lineup soon.

Can u plz post a desktop screenshot of the 15" native resolution so i know what we are taling about here?
 
How comfy is the 17" on your laptop

I plan to get either 15 or 17 macbook pro to do some programming in the evenings. This will be on my sofa and on my lap. Is the 17" a bit too big for this?
