I just upgraded from an iPhone 13 PM where battery capacity is now in the 80% and during the day it loses battery life fast.
Got a 15 PM that has been better during day and yesterday it almost lasted two full days.
However over night it now lose too much, 9% ~ 1% hour even though I killed all apps and put the phone screen down in case of any notifications.
What can it be causing this drain?

I have latest iOS so any idea is there something I should turn off?
I have already turned off any background app updates.

If it is a bad battery I am still within my 2 weeks period. Have 4 more days.

Wasn't sure if this is the right forum or if it should be iOS 17 forum.

If you're consistently losing 9% every night it's possible that the cell reception is poor where you're placing the phone for the night, or maybe even wifi. If you're able to try disabling either one for each night to test - that would be my troubleshoot move.

Good suggestions will try that tonight. Maybe start by skipping 5G and force LTE only

I have similar behavior and even switch on low power mode before going to bed. Do you wear the paired Apple Watch to sleep? Not sure it's related at all as some of the notifications are just mirror from the iPhone. I have my phone face down and placed it about 14 feet away from the WiFi access point.

Why simply not charging it? It does updates and backup while connected to Wi-Fi and power. Here is no sense in not charging it during night.

Wear an Apple Watch to bed. My 15 plus loses zero battery.

Charge before bed. Zero reason to leave it charging overnight.

What settings do you have since you lose 0 over night?
i would love to be in the same boat so I need to figure out what i have and you don't, setting wise.

Do you have Apple On Display turned on?

Maybe try to disable the biggest offenders of Notifications.

This has been happening on the 14 and on the 15 series. Not sure why, my guess is they've changed something with FindMy network.

I had 13PM for the whole year and it lost 0% during the night. 14P 10% easy. 15PM 5-10% per night.

I still have the 14P, use it for work photos (microscopy). It has no SIM card, I disabled FindMy (just to try, it actually doesn't change anything) and battery loss is less (probably because no SIM card), but still around 10% per 24 hours.

Same observations. With the 13 Pro 0% drain over night. 14 Pro from 3-6%. And still the 15PM has drain over night.

Maybe the AirTags?

Nope, I have a couple AirTags (mostly for luggage tracking), but when at home I open the battery compartment.

I really have no idea, why this started with the 14 series.

This is tricky, because 100% to 99% varies, if you pull out the charger immediately upon reaching 100%, it'll last longer.

Try NOT charging before bed and noting the percentage of the battery. It's not gonna be the same in morning.

Hmm interesting… I have 2 aktiv AirTags and the drain.

Maybe I need to look more what that drain come from…

Interesting, last night i changed to 98% and it was still 98% 8 hours later...?

Curious. Mine is always losing about 1-2% per hour during the night.

Time ago I noticed that Find My was depleting my battery during the night. Since I don't need it to be working at those hours, I just made a simple automation that turns ON Low Power mode and turns OFF Bluetooth at 10PM and restore defaults at 7AM. That worked perfectly with iOS 16 and iPhone 14 Pro.

Now I'm again noticing a battery impact during night. In my case, it seems to be Spark the offender app. It's the only one showing activity while the iPhone is in Low Power mode, and while the total battery usage is not big, the background usage is huge. (Background app refresh is turned OFF on my device).

For those with battery depletion at night, I recommend to touch the graph at those hours to have an hourly detail of the usage. Also, if you can turn ON Low Power mode and OFF Bluetooth do it. The less that you use the battery, the most it will last.

My 15Pro looses at most 3% overnight. I however, have it connected to Wi-Fi and it's a strong connection. I do close all apps.

The same settings I always have used. Not sure what exactly you are looking for. I turn on sleep, so no notifications. I do have it set to allow favorites to ring for emergency purposes.

I checked my battery log, and from bed to wake there are zero apps running.

I only charge to 80%. I use the charging optimization.
