15 series hardware specs are at limit of what can Apple offer already.
The camera sensor sizes of pro and regular finally match with Samsung, while Samsung has kept the same camera specs for years already. Apple would not offer 1 inch sensor for coming many years since the cost would be too high.
The A17 pro is the first 3nm cpu gpu chip, but Apple only sells it as 10% improvement, very likely it would be like almost 0% in real life usage. The upcoming years should be still 3nm and the jump would be much less.
So there are almost no hardware improvement in coming iPhone series. Pro vision is the next hope for Apple and Apple can keep doing something new in software or the the looking of the phone.
No one to wait for iPhone 16, 17 if you need a new phone, it would be almost the same as 15 anyway.
