I purchased AppleCare directly from Apple in the UK for £58 which is the equivalant of 115 USD (as per Xe.com)

You've got to love higher-education discount :D

Ouch, that's a shame. I was shocked myself, the man specified a saving of a good £150. I was going to go without it, but after I heard that I leaped at the chance!

£58!!!

£50 ex. vat.

Thats the kind of deal I am looking for. Thats about the price I paid for my Mac Pro Apple Care. The cheapest I've seen the MBP Apple Care is around $200.

good score.

Yes I forgot to specify my Applecare price of $115 was also for the MBP.

Nice find!

So far I haven't kept a mac long enough to warrant the extended warranty, but if I ever do, I def. know to try eBay first. You can get some really nice deals there.

I just don't understand how buying an Apple Care off of Ebay can be considered safe. What if they opened it and enrolled it on their computer? Then what do you do? I have heard a lot of stories about Ebay fraud...what's in it for the buyer if this turns out to be a dud?

true, but I asked the guy and he said that the product is factory sealed and its brand-new..... I hope he's telling the truth!

I got the box today...and it was sealed!
Anyway the numbers worked and I am registered for extended warranty!!!

The boxes in his pictures did look sealed. But I just have a hard time relying on a complete stranger for an extended warranty on a computer.

With good feedback on eBay, I don't think there is anything to worry about. All of its faults aside, the PayPal/eBay combo for physical goods leaves you pretty protected.
