I am considering purchasing the 16gig size as I think that will be big enough and I don't think I have the need for 3G. I don't plan on having music on the iPad, and at most 4 or 5 movies at a time. I have a trip coming up soon (across country) and it would be nice to load up the iPad with a few movies, some TV shows and maybe a book or two. I will probably end up with several apps, but not many compared to some peoples standards....not a big game player.

Just wondering how many of you have the 16gig model and getting by nicely with the space, or wishing you had a larger model..?

On avg: Movies are about 1.5GB each. Apps are 10-20MB max, maybe a few are larger. Pics are 1MB each. Songs are 2-3MB each. Do the math to figure out what you need. (16GB formats to 14GB)

The 16 has been enough for me so far. I keep having to plug it in when I need to switch out movies though, but I don't really mind. Books take up hardly any space. You should be fine though given your plans on no music. Somewhere down the road you're gonna wish you had bought the 32 gig anyway however.

I dont do movies (only at home and if I need to access them for say a long trip there is an app for that :).

I have my iphone so I have no need for music on my ipad TOO.

I'll only be reading a book or two at a time.

Therefore all I need is the 16 gig and I LOVEEEEEEEEEE it. Works great FOR ME.

I adore your choice of Subject title, intuitive and descriptive to the max =)

As apps are now allowed to be bigger, they will continue to get bigger, and bigger and bigger. Also, wondering if they will offload more memory to swap space when they implement multitasking. This might take a real bite out of available space.

Hi everybody :) It's my first post ... I'm from Germany and I'm going to order the iPad directly on monday and I'm really excited. Because of the fact that I'm not sure which version I should order - I'm pretty sure with the 3G-Version - I have got a question concerning the size of pics ... Is it correct that pics, which have originally a size of round about 5 MB in my cam will be decompressed in the iPad or is the size 1:1 (like the price Euro = Dollar :( )?

Thank's!

Otto

I think if you have the camera connection kit and upload picture directly to your iPad from a cameras that way they don't compress the pictures, but if your loading them from your computer they are compressed because apple assumes they are there just for viewing pleasure and dont need full quallity.
Pictures look great you just can't zoom in or it doesn't look as good
