16” M1 Max Depivery Date Delayed

I placed an order for the base 16” Max with no customizations on Dec 30 and the original delivery date was to Jan 27 - Feb 3.

I’ve just received an email that my order is now expected to be delivered Feb 25 - Mar 4. My total wait time from purchase will now be 8 to 9 weeks.

This post is not a complaint, nor is it an attempt to garner sympathy. I’m just curious if anyone else is seeing similar delays for orders placed in late December or early January. I realize this is purely anecdotal, but none of my colleagues have been notified of delays to their shipping dates.

If course, there’s always a chance it will arrive sooner. Fingers crossed!

For the last few weeks Amazon hasn't even had the 16" Max listed where it used to be. I take that as a good indication they're in short supply.

Check out B&H and other third-party providers. I originally placed an order for a Space Gray 16" M1 Max, 64GB, 4TB with Apple. My delivery date was slated for April. I was able to find my exact spec on B&H, and I had it in my hands less than 24 hours later. I'm not sure if they'll have what you're looking for, but they have several configurations in stock. They are an Apple dealer, and I had a great experience with them. If you choose to open a credit card with them (I did not), they will refund the sales tax to your purchase.

Ouch. There are numerous issues at play here. Chinese New Year will likely be slowing down production, and COVID related supply chain/production issues are at play here.

What I don't get, is that the 14'' M1 Max are easy to get on the next day. Only the 16'' are the problem. It implies that there must be some hidden differences apart from the software "turbo" mode.

The 14" Max is unavailable everywhere I have looked (as is the 16" Max), and it has identical ship dates to the 16" from Apple. Am I missing something?

Here in Slovakia, 14'' M1 max are available already for some time, and they still have it in the stores. 16'' M1 were not available at all
