It seems Apple went cheap and only provided the MagSafe to USB-C cable and a 140W brick with an adapter plug for the brick to connect to a wall outlet. One would think for a machine that cost thousands they could afford to include a cable to connect the brick to a wall outlet.

Can I use the cable from a 2014 15” MBP to connect the power brick to a wall outlet? I have a few spares of these.

Tim Apple decided to nickel & dime us in every way possible. The Power Extension cable & the screen polishing cloth used to be all included in the MacBook box. Now it's $20 each. Shareholder value increased, and customer satisfaction took a backseat.

I'm also using the extender cable from my old Late 2008 MacBook.

I have four 2013/2014 MBP bricks with the power extender cables for two laptops. I had to replace a few of them over the years as the cord to the laptop was built into the brick and the new bricks came with extender cables, so I had a few spares.

I've ordered a spare 140W charger for each of the two new MBPs, so I will either need to order a few new extender cables or more likely reuse some of the old ones.

They didn't really cheap out, I originally thought the same so bought one of the old extension cables at the same time I got the device.

The new Magsafe cable however is waaaaaaay longer than the one I had on my Late 2013 MacBook Pro so I've not even taken the extension cable out of the box.

It’s not the length of the MagSafe cable, but rather the awkwardness of plugging the brick into a power point. Using the extension cable is much better. I’ve started using one already with the new machine and can’t see myself going back to not using it.

For the sake of saving what $5-$10 bucks at most it is cheap what Apple did.

The extension cables themselves can be picked up on ebay pretty cheap. I agree though, I remember when they were included in the box too :(

Yes, having the brick hooked to the outlet is an awkward situation.
