I upgraded from a 2013 15" MBP to the new 2021 16" MBP chassis and love the thing to death - except one thing - the massive trackpad.

Yes, it is great at "palm rejection" while typing. I've never had it click somewhere random while typing. HOWEVER, while actually using the trackpad to tap things, it messes up all the time! I think this is more apparent when you use "tap to click" instead of the "hard" click. Often my single taps do not work because it thinks I'm trying to multi-finger gesture. There was room to rest your fingers above the trackpad on older MBPs. Now I have to move my hands to the side and lift my palms up when I'm done typing in order to use the trackpad without hiccups, and then back towards the center when I want to type again.

I found a Github project where someone had written an app to reduce the trackpad area through software. Unfortunately it only works on Intel MBPs and appears to be abandoned. Does anyone know of anything similar for Apple Silicon MBPs? Would you be interested in this?

I came from a 2011 15" MBP to the one in my signature 3 years ago and felt the same, it still is a bit too big but you get used to it eventually

This is my first 16" MBP and I got used to it very quickly with the trackpad coming from Windows PC/Dedicated Mouse. While I do have my Master 3S linked to the mac, I'm growing really attached to the trackpad it is the best there is... no question about it.

I found I had to make the click soft, as there was some times I noticed double click wasn't bringing up a folder to expand. So had to juggle around and found the minor issue which is fixed.

Keyboard wise I would use external just to prolong the MBP's keyboard whilst at home but the trackpad is addictive and fun to use. Obvs I won't use it for photoshop/video editing much as need more precise.
