Just got a iPhone 16 Pro max for my wife and it is overheating when charging. It overheated when i was transferring from her previous phone and again when she was charging it the next day. Not hot enough to burn or shut off but enough to be uncomfortable. Should i exchange it? Anyone else seen this?

Wait and see if others have the issue. You still have time to return it if it’s just you. Remember last year.

I do remember last year. That is why I posted here, to see if this is a known issue or if it is just this unit.

During a restore, it’s normal for the phone to get warm. It took me about two days for my 16PM to settle down. I’m using the old iPhone 5W charger to charge my iPhone so there’s no more heat.

How are you charging it, wired or MagSafe and what brick
Wired, and used a wall outlet that has USB-C. Been using that to charge the previous 15 Pro Max for a year with no problems

Thanks. I will wait a few more days to see if this problem goes away

During setup or restore the device can get hot, depending on signal and the volume it’s downloading and then indexing can also generate heat, albeit should be less than previous models but no two experiences are going to be identical.
