Has anyone had any legitimate issues with their screen on the 16" - to the point you have either returned the machine or considering it? Friend of mine just made the purchase and when checking the screen with a pure white background, he is unhappy with the left and right edges appearing to have a teeny tiny amount of less uniformity of brightness.

Just curious if this is normal or otherwise! Mine seems pretty great from an untrained eyes perspective FYI.

Edit - not trying to split hairs or start a war here. Genuine curiosity now on the reliability of the panels being used this year.

No issues here. I've checked with a pure black background, but not white. I don't think any computer display brightness technology will offer a purely even bright white across the full display.

If he spends a lot of time looking at pure white screens, then maybe worth returning ;), but if only a teeny tiny amount replacement may be worse.
I go through similar anxious moments when getting new kit. The feeling usually settles down but occasionally not and it goes back. Everyone's tolerance levels to perceived imperfections are different. Only he can decide.

mine does seem to have a light grey outline around the whole screen. nothing that would warrant me to return. like another member stated: you might get something worse or another issue elsewhere on the MacBook Pro

If he is angry send it back and ask for another!
No one is angry lol I guess some people just have different expectations.

I was merely curious about the panels they are using this generation. Overall they seem to be incredible for the majority of us :)
