160gb on 5,1

I have an 8x16gb kit in there now.
Just discovered it can run 160gb off a 5x32gb kit.
I would not want to spring for 5x32gb kit HOWEVER I would spring for 2x32gb sticks to replace 2x16gb sticks.
Anyone know if that configuration will work by any chance?

AFAIK, at least one cMP user is doing that. However, it also seems only some very specific part number's 32GB DIMM can work properly on cMP (in macOS). Or may need to clean up the BootROM in order to make the 32GB DIMM can work (again, for macOS).

N.B. In Windows or Linux, almost any correct spec 32GB DIMM can work.

Hmm. Im having trouble finding an exact match to the sticks I have now. I found one but its $500.
Not sure I was ready to shell out $1000 for this lol
The 128gb kit was only $600
