Hi,

I have a i7 2.0 Mini Server. I run lots of VMs and 8GB is not cutting it.

Anyone seen any decent prices for RAM?

Also, can I mix a 8GB So-Dimm and a 4GB to make 12GB?

Newegg.com also sales 8GB sticks of RAM in pairs or singles. They are the best price by far state side at $229.00 USD for a single 8GB stick. Many of us have had success running these in various configurations from 16GB in 2011 MBP & 2011 Minis to 32GB in 2010 iMac.

If you get it from the USA, you have to pay VAT, so I don't see any benefit. 16 GB costs 420 Euro on eBay and that's okay I guess. I will get 8 GB in the near future, which costs about 50 Euro :D

you would need to pay 172 euro to meet the usa newegg price of 229 usd for one stick of crucial.

I sold 2 sticks to a Uk buyer for about 520usd last month.

At that price I made 25 usd after shipping packing etc.

I think if I were you I would buy that samsung on the DE site.

Today crucial is on newegg for 229 a stick or 449 a pair usd.

to ship it safely to the uk it cost close to 30 bucks.

so you are at 259 for a single stick or 479 for two.

after paypal fees you are at 268 or 495 . see if you had a friend in the usa and he made 0 money . 268 for 8gb and 495 for 16gb before the vat .

even if you friend lies about the price say 130 for the 8gb and 260 for the 16gb. the vat is still steep.

what is the max ram we can put into the mac minis?

I've upgraded to 8Gb and it seems fine for what i need, i'm just curious!

I might go to 12GB - a single 8GB stick is €2115 (£183 approx).

Hmm... its pricey but I cannot run enough VMs at the moment. Argghhh!

I currently have 8GB Ram in my 2011 mini i5, bought from crucial : 2 of these. Does anyone know if this would be a good module to get to upgrade to 12GB?

The only difference I can see is 1.35V on the 8GB as opposed to 1.5V on the 4GB.
