I was wondering if this ram or others with identical spec will run in my MP 5,1 (2010) single 6 core.

http://www.superbiiz.com/desc.php?name=D313GR16H1 (identical to OWC/transintl specs)

Can anybody recommend where to get 16gb sticks that work with MP cheaper than owc/transintl,? (it seems that transintl is cheapest)

Thanks.

I have gotten no response on this, but anyone know if it is safe to put one stick of 16GB or 32GB ram in an octo 4,1 mac? Leaving the other bank of ram for the other CPU empty? Would it cause performance or bottleneck issues?

MacSales says "Apple Mac Pro "Nehalem" & "Westmere" models utilize high-performance multi-channel memory addressing that benefits from the installation of matched memory sets." Does that mean what I am asking?

I'm thinking of getting one stick of 1333MHz now and getting more when I (hopefully) upgrade to hex chips..

Apple specifications state that their ram uses thermal sensor, otherwise your fans will run at max speed i believe.

Also all websites state that 16gb sticks can't be mixed with other capacity sticks, i'm not sure about 32gb sticks i haven't seen those around to be used in mac at all.

i don't know if that going to help.

I ordered 32gb 16 x 2 on transintl and plan to get another 16 to max out 48gb in couple weeks. Hopefully it will work with my ordered 2x16gb sticks, some websites even state that 16gb sticks have to be from same batch with same serial number etc...

I have 3 16GB dual rank Samsung sticks with no heat sink and it doesn't effect my fan speed at all.
