Anyone else encounter:

1) FIrewire 400 port won't show devices connected. Tried a VidCam and two different External HDs that are FW400. Tried them on my wife's MB and my new 20" iMac and had no issue. Power is getting to the device, at least partially, since lights come on. BUt the HDs dont' show up in disk utility.

2) Way too many drops of WIreless coming out of sleep or after going to screen saver during idle time.

I've done the PMU reset (battery out, hold power button, etc.) and I've also wiped the drive and installed OS X. Tried again with the base 10.4.6 that comes on the install DVD and also after updating to 10.4.10.

I've put a call in to Applecare and I'm doing a mail-in repair. Just wondering if anyone else out there has encountered anything like this.

A friend of mine's right-side USB port wasn't functioning properly where the left-side was.

He sent it to Apple for repair and they jiggered about with the USB port and it was fixed.

Could be a slightly loose connection in your FireWire 400 port causing the signal between the device and computer to fail.
