Does anyone know which 17" LCD panels from the G5 iMac can be swapped with the Early 2006 Duo Core 17" iMac? My "speculation" is that the 17" G5 iSight equiped iMacs are a likely candidate. Thanks for any help.

umm try checking google, or ifixit guides, I assume they have different connectors :S

Sage advice, but I have done the searches and come up with a couple of Apple and LG (LCD panel maker) part numbers. I was hoping a learned member here may have some direct experience. iFixit does not appear to be Apple desktop friendly, unless there's a hidden area for the iMac users. Thanks for the reply, though.

More info mining has led to this:

G5 iSight iMac has a 17" LCD p/n 661-3789
Core Duo iMac has a 17" LCD p/n 661-3879

It's interesting that the Core Duo (early 2006) has a p/n lower than the G5

The G5's LCD connector is referred to as the TDMS (Terminal Display Management System), which was used on the G4 luxo while the Core Duo one is LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signaling). The physical connector appears to be identical.
