This is ridiculous.

The 17" MacBook Pro which should draw more battery power due to a larger display has better battery life over the 15" MBP. Also, both are the same size in height (1 inch) though now the 17" can fit a DL 8x burner? I thought Apple elimated the 8x DL drive due to not being able to fit it into the MBP's 1 inch design?

What's up with this?

this was discussed in the official macrumors news section.

basically, as somebody else said, although it's the same thickness, the optical drive is still in a different place. in the 15 inch, the drive has to be underneeth the trackpad, so that complicates things.

also, having a bigger monitor, means bigger body, which therefore can lead to bigger battery. that is why the 14 inch ibook has longer battery life than the 12 ibook.

correct me if i'm wrong.

Dont forget 5 months (nearly) have passed since macbook pro has been released so new DVD burners may have been made.

If you look at the picture the burner is higher up in the 17 inch model so steelfist is more than likely correct.

I so wish they did the MBP 15 inch with 17 inch spec , extra USB port, firewire 800 and dual layer dvd drive............. Hopefully in the next rev
