The 17" MBP C2D suspends with the lid closed. However anytime I move the macbook, the apple lights up. I don't dare to carry it around this way as it might overheat or something.

Is there a setting somewhere I am missing. Can anyone try to see i they have the same chalenge I have.

Thanks.

Nope, but is it waking up (ie you can here that buzzy, grindy sound?) Either way, you should probably take it in if you are under warrenty.

Time to take it in. You will really drain the battery and that sucks. Are you under warranty?

I know that getting your computer serviced really stinks, especially if you don't live close, but sometimes it just has to happen. There are two kinds of computers out there. Those that are broken already, and those that will break. Lucky for you, it seems like a fair "easy" problem to fix. If you have Procare, give them a call. If you haven't used it yet: Phone support for Mac is awesome (I have called 4 times) they are really friendly, they know everything, and best of all, they speak English!

Yes, it's still under warrenty. I'mvcalling them soon.

Another inetresting thing that happens is thatwhen you press the power button quickly and select the sleep mode, when leaving the lid open and moving the computer upside down and back and forth, it does NOT wake up. As soon as you close the lid, it wakes up and as soon as you open the lid it goes back to sleep.

Go figure
