Although we have not tested the new 15" MacBook Pro with the backlit LED as extensively as the 17" model, we do have a few thoughts on the 2.2GHz model. The display appears to be just a tad brighter than the 17" model or the previous generation 15" MacBook Pros, but not so much that the difference jumps out at you. From our observations, the viewing angle on the 15" model is a bit narrower than the CCFL screens. Colors look great dead on, but when viewing at the display from the side, we noticed a bit of a color cast, which reader Andrew Currier described as lemon-yellow. We also noticed that the colors are a bit on the warm side with the new 15" models.
I would've thought the LED screen would've had a better viewing angle than the 17"?!
Why would the LED affect viewing angle?![]()
Interesting comment on the 15" LED screen versus the 17"

I read that as meaning the 15" is slightly better - as in you can move to a narrower angle relative to the screen from the side or above and see things a bit better than on the 17".
That's definitely the case when I've checked them out in the Apple Store.
