Hey all! I’m trying to figure out if I should make a big deal about this. My camera bump already has a pretty awful patina (I might even be using the wrong term here). It’s getting so discolored. Is everyone else having this issue? In fairness I’m a distance runner and being my phone on long runs where I sweat a lot on my phone because it’s in the phone pocket on my shorts but this seems crazy. I can’t scrub this off.

It’s a known issue. I wouldn’t be making any such deal out of it though. What was your last iPhone like before replacing it?

My 13 was perfect but that’s because I had a lens protector on, lol.

Have you tried using an alcohol wipe? Maybe put it on a q-tip so you can get in between the lenses.

Seems like it’s an issue this year with the Pro’s. There’s another thread further up with a silver pro user describing the same from putting it in and out of his jeans.

Update!: I did end up taking it to apple and they swapped out the phone. Many of the employees seemed shocked by it - the genius bar person grabbed four other people for a consult. I'm quite certain this will happen again but oh well!
Good stuff. Did they swap it for a new retail unit?

Are there any other instances of such a drastic change with other 17 P/PMs? Or any ideas on Reddit why this is happening? Not to be overly skeptical but it is Reddit…I will admit it could be legit especially if you experienced some color change on the Dark Blue one

This was a known issue with the Product RED iPhone XR, 12, and 14 devices.

Kinda think it looks cool lol. But this is what I'd expect after like, years of use, not a few weeks

Bring it to Apple. See what they say
Then decide if you want a replacement and put a case on it. Unfortunately this is not titanium

I'm not saying this should happen and I'm glad the OP got a replacement, but some of these color changes are interesting looking. I'd have to see it in person though.

Someone posted on reddit an orange 17 pro max that had some discoloration too. It turned pink 😅View attachment 2567682

I can believe some spots happened on some devices, but that looks extremely even.

So far I think nobody's reported using a case and still getting these, have they? (Not that I'm blaming anyone for not doing that, but it helps to track down if it's an environmental cause)

Can't wait to find out that something as simple as too much detergent left in your laundry after washing, can cause some of this when your legs sweat, or something similar.

I googled this and there was an article stating that the owner later explained that the phone was under some sort of special light and that the phone did in fact appear normal orange under normal light

Edit to say that I can’t seem to locate this article now….
