You can just return an iPhone if it breaks within 14 days? That’s news to me.At least it happened right away so you can return it. Sorry for your loss OP.
Apple will look after people more so around launch. People have had exchanges for accidents etc. this has zero impact points, they’ll exchange it for a new one (if purchased from them) as part of goodwill. If not, the Genius Bar will cover the above under warranty. You can just return an iPhone if it breaks within 14 days? That’s news to me.
I noticed that crescent dent under the lidar. 🫣No case? Looks like few other dents. You probably been careful and still happening.
It can also be considered defective, so do an exchange as it’s still within two weeksApple will exchange for a new unit given there are no impact points. Take it into a store.

I bet they’ll want to know!Come on OP, tell the truth. it would not crack on it's own like that. There is something you are not telling us all in this thread.
Glad they looked after you. As pointed out, they tend to do so this early in the cycle. Shame you have to justify those points to the fanboys who believe it couldn’t have possibly cracked due to poor quality control/defect.Update: I brought my phone to the Apple Store and they swapped it out for a brand new device at no charge under their EFFA.
To clear up a lot of the questions that came up:
- No one else has ever had possession of my phone.
- I haven’t used a case in years… I don’t see the point when the repair/claim is only $29.
- Yes, I have AppleCare+, but they didn’t use it for this replacement.
- I have not used a strong MagSafe mount/connection.
- I’ve handled this iPhone the same as all my previous ones.
- Did I sit on it? No. I’ve sat on past iPhones before without them cracking.
- And no, I’m not having random objects thrown at it like in the “Ultimate Pro” ad.
Honestly, I just woke up at my campsite and noticed the back glass was cracked. My goal with this thread was mainly to see if anyone else has had their back glass crack with no damage.
Okay, so most of these scenarios are off the table, but hey, it could still be accidental damage to your iPhone. Even if it’s in a case, I’d still suggest grabbing a protective case and/or screen and back glass covers for your new iPhone.Update: I brought my phone to the Apple Store and they swapped it out for a brand new device at no charge under their EFFA.

😂 I’ve noticed this ad on TV quite frequently since the release of the iPhone 17 Pro. It highlights the extreme nature of the situation, but unfortunately, the issue of scratchgate persists. And no, I’m not having random objects thrown at it like in the “Ultimate Pro” ad.
