I have a 17" white iMac with the following specs:

1.83 GHz Core 2 Duo
1.5GB Ram
160GB hard drive
Intel GMA 950 graphics.

I was looking at the Mac Mini and the specs are remarkably similar, almost exactly the same in fact. Will the performance I experience using the iMac be the same as I would expect from the Mini of the same processor speed? Or is there something else I am overlooking that makes the iMac faster? I have to say the performance of the iMac is more than satisfactory, if the Mini is the same it would be great. BTW I would get the 2.0GHz Mini anyway so it should be slightly better than the iMac if I am thinking correctly.

Thanks.

As far as I know it will be very similar running on both of those.

The iMac has a full size desktop hard drive whereas the Mac mini has a notebook drive. The iMac's drive is faster.

There are basically the same except for the HD. If you got the 2.0GHz Mini there would be a slight increase in speed.

Yes, comparing the two, the HDD speed seems to be the only noticeable difference. Plus you can get any size screen and replace it later if you want.
