I'm on the 18.1 Beta and had to get a replacement Right AirPods Pro earbud. When I tried to pair them, I got a mistmatched AirPods Pro error and it would not pair. Specifically it says I have the wrong generation. However, I confirmed with Apple that they sent me the 2nd generation so we think it's a software bug with 18.1.

1. Has anyone heard of this happening with 18.1 as a bug?
2. Is there any way around it?
3. when is the final beta for 18.1 expected?

Never replaced an AirPod, but make sure you did these 3 things first:
Step 1: Forget the device from your Bluetooth settings
Step 2: Reset the pods by holding the button on the case for 15 seconds while the pods are in the case and the lid is open.
Step 3: Re-pair.

To answer your other questions:
2. If this is beta-related, pair them to an iPad or AppleTV first.
3. If Gurman is right on 18.1 GR being 10/28 then we could see beta 7 tomorrow and RC on 10/21.

Heya- still struggling with this. I'm wondering if I need the new firmware to pair the new AirPods Pro replacement. Anyone have any ideas or having the same problem? I think I've wandered into an edge case.
