H, I don't think i've ever posted on the photography forum before but wondered what you guys thought of an 18-200VR for a D70?
I've read loads of reviews and am 95% convinced but before I go and buy, any other recommendations, alternatives, issues & wish-you-would-have-known-before-you-buy's?

here's my reccomendation:

before buying it go out and try one of those 18-200s (mount it on your camera) to see if you actually like the way the lens feels in your hand and if it actually fits your style of photography.

It's a great lens, but not quite a pro quality. Nevetherless, for the price it is an awesome value. I had one and liked it a lot, but I wanted something faster for motorsports. I sold it and bought a 70-200/2.8 VR and 17-55/2.8, but at quadruple the price of the 18-200 for the pair. I miss the 18-200 VR for other things, like vacations and going out for ad hoc photography.

For the price you'll be hard put to find something better if you need the range and want image stabilization.

I have one and use it on my D70 all the time. It's a great walk-around lens, and holds its own against Nikon's other consumer glass.
