Remember a few months ago when people were talking about 18 months of free phone service for iPhone? Is it still a possibility or no?

whoa

i ve never heard of this b4,, maybe not her ein canada,, but that d be soooooooooooooooo crazy, just 6 months would already save me hundreddddsss.

some steroided up rumors..
i d believe three months free, that's what they do here when they stick it up you with a 3 year contract....

Ya I could see a 3 month trial. They do that with Sprint when you enter into a new 2 year contract. You get 3 months of PCS Vision service (like T-mobile t-zones, and Cingular mediaMax)

I really just don't know. I mean, Jim Cramer is very reputable.

I really just don't know. I mean, Jim Cramer is very reputable.

The screaming lunatic giving out awful stock advice on CNBC? The man who refused to see the dot com bubble bursting until April 2000? Reputable? The homeless man with the 2000 word sign sitting out in front of my local Starbucks is more reputable than Cramer.

I just wish we knew the rates at least at this point.

I think it's highly unlikely that Cingular will discount the iPhone any more deeply than they discount their own branded smart phone or the Treo or Blackberry.

Right now, Cingular offers $100 off the retail price ($550) plus a $50 mail in rebate on the Cingular 8525 for a final price of $400. They offer $150 off the Treo 750 plus a $100 rebate for a final price of $400. And they offer $100 off the Blackberry 8800 plus a $50 rebate for a final price of $300.

I expect that Cingular will match these price points on the iPhone ... $300 for the 4 gig model (with 2 year contract) and $400 for the 8 gig model (again with 2 year contract.) While I think they toyed around with contract price discounts instead of equipment discounts, from my discussions with people at Cingular/AT&T, they're going to go about it the traditional way.

I can't see it happening...hopefully a nice cheap 20.00 dollar Unlimited Text, Pix and Internet plan will come the iPhone's way.

Wow, you guys are letting them off the hook WAY too easily. Check out Amazon Cingular phones -- many of them are now free or you even get money back. But Cingular will offer zero incentives for the iPhone? After reading the above responses, they are probably howling with joy.

How about 18 months of free data plan. That would be worth $15 per month times 18 = $270, which sounds about right for a two year contract.

Book it.

yes, yes but they KNOW people will still go out and buy the iPhone, even if it was 1000 for the phone and more expensive per minute of use.
