So I posted this thread because I'm so frustrated with my Nexus One.... and in love with it at the same time. Man this is a beast of a phone except for the touch screen. It really is a love/hate relationship.
On one hand, in addition to finding all applications that I need in the app marketplace, you get all these incredible features like google trails, google latitude, google voice, google goggles, etc. I won't describe them here, but those who are thinking of the nexus one should check out how powerfull these apps become on the google phone. If the ipad is like "holding the internet in your hands" then the google nexus one is like holding the google supercomputers in your hands. The whole point of the phone is that all these extraodrinary functions are capible through the seamless integration with google's cloud.
On the other hand, you have this touch screen issue that makes interacting with all that power somewhat of a pain in the butt. It's the touch equivelant of talking on a line with static in the background.
In terms of service, I have never used the Apple boards, but I can say that the call experience with Apple is night and day compared to Google. I had a hardware issue with my old MBP. Apple fixed it over and over again in the most pleasant way. Even after the 5th repair, I was really disapointed with my product, but I was still impressed with the level of service from the company. The customer service reps really bend over backwards to try and accomodate your problem. If you have a problem, going a level higher is easy and immediately gets the problem taken care of, should you even have one. Finally, after 5 repairs, I still had issues and they gave me this brand new Macbook Pro that I'm typing on. So yes, Apple has stellar, 10/10, A+, Best in the business customer service. Period.
I can contrast this readily with my call to Google. They try a couple of useless fixes over the phone and when they don't work, they say "yeah, well, you should call the manufacturer of the phone." That's it. There's no other discussion, no other help, nothing. You then go into HTC's world of poor customer service. This would be like Apple telling all it's customers who were having hardware issues to call nVidia.
in the end, i'm still on the fence. The Google Phone is simply a much more capible phone due to the open nature of the operating system and integration with google services. Anyone can make software for this phone and I CHOOSE whether or not I want it on my phone, not Steve Jobs. All of you out there are being denied an incredible service because Steve Jobs, AT&T, or whoever, doesen't want competition from Google.
