If I am not mistaken, Youtube is in the process of converting all video to HTML5. I don't believe all video became HTML5 at once.

I uninstalled Adobe Flash for an unrelated reason. Youtube has always worked fine since it's HTML5, but when I tried to play a Youtube video after uninstalling flash, I get a "missing plugin". If I install Adobe Flash, it works again, but plays HTML5 video. It doesn't make sense to me.

Provide us with a youtube link where you get this problem.

Does the video have an ad at the beginning? Could it be a video ad that is flash?

I was under the impression that since HTML5 was made the default for Youtube, a flash plugin wasn't necessary.

Not all YouTube videos are available in HTML5. Some are still offered only in Flash versions. You can install the ClickToFlash Safari extension, which will play Flash videos as HTML5.

According to the picture, YouTube should give you HTML 5. But it might not be always possible. That's why it says when possible.
