I just picked up a new MacBook Pro. I had no trouble getting music on my 1G iPod Nano before upgrading. I've verified it through Disk Utility. iTunes locks up and requires a force-quit, but never mounts the iPod. I've reinstalled iTunes, reboted a few times, repaired permissions, all to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Unfortunatly entering the dfu mode on the nano is a right pain. I would try pluging it in quit iTunes then whilst pluged in reset your nano.
