I have a MB core duo (not core 2 duo)
I have 1.25 Gb of ram.. I upgraded one of the sticks to 1gb so they don't match.

How much faster with video editing, (FCE) or other tasks will I be with 2gb?

I am trying to tide myself over until new mac pros are released.

Also, how comparable would my system be to a new MBP with 2GB?

I have looked at barefeats already.

Guesses?

For video editing, the amount of RAM and the GPU are both important. Therefore I think the MacBook Pro with 2G of RAM and a dedicated graphics card would be quite a bit faster than your MacBook, depending on how much you slam your system. Another contributing factor to your video work pace is hard drive speed, so maybe think about getting a faster hard drive in any machine you may be thinking of purchasing in the near future. :)
