I purchased a 1 Password license for version 6 and was very happy with it. Unfortunately the folks at 1 Password will not update version 6 so that the extension will work again in Safari.

I contacted support and the person responded with “I don’t suggest purchasing a license”. I’m not one for subscription-based services/apps.

Has anyone had issues with version 7 and any issues with a stand alone license vs the subscription?

Thank you!

I have no issues with version 7 on my Mac.

But what's your main gripe with subscriptions? I run version 7 from a subscription and I'm pro-subscription.

No issues with the latest version on my Mac with a standalone license. I haven't tried the extension with Safari though.

Dropbox’s move to limit devices kind of forced me into going with a subscription for 1password. Otherwise, I’d still be on the license. The sync via 1password sub is impressive, to be fair. But I understand the reasons to stick with a license.

I was on the license for a while in 7. It works just fine.

I think that it’s obnoxious that Agilebits specifically pushed you towards a sub like that. Puts the lie to their refrain of “we just don’t include it in our marketing,” which never quite sounded fully honest anyway.

Great product, and they provide good support. But their public representation of their move towards subscriptions has been grating.

Please try extensions when you can and let me know if they work the same as version 6.

Thanks!

There's not much difference between the two versions beyond the sync methods. Some additional features come with the sub, but the plug-ins are exactly the same.

Thanks everyone. Last question: how do they send updates to those who purchase a license since that option isn’t in the Mac App Store?

I just switched to Firefox now the Safari extension doesn't work. 1Password 6 works fine. I'm on Catalina.

There are lots of alternatives to 1Password too :). I'm evaluating StrongBox at the moment.

Yep, I’d love to try other apps, but I wouldn’t know where to start in regards to moving all my stores passwords.
