1st gen ATV and new AirportExpress

I use a 1st gen ATV as a media server. All my iTunes media is synched to it. I just got my new 2nd gen AirPort Express today and Joined it to my TC network. The issue is the ATV doesn't recognize the AE as an AirTunes device. The ATV does recognize my older AE as an AirTunes device. All my Macs and iOs devices recognize both AEs as Airplay options. I've configured both 2.4 and 5 Ghz networks with the same results.

Any suggestions as to why the new AE is not recognized by the 1gen ATV when the original AE is? Any possible fixes come to mind?

BTW-I had to update the Airport Utility before I could Join the TimeCapsule network. Without the update the only option was to Extend the TC network or Create a new network on the new AE.

Considering the AppleTV 1 hasn't had a software update in nearly two years, I'm not surprised it doesn't recognize the brand new Airport Express. I wouldn't hold out much hope that you'll ever get them to play together nicely.

You might be better off returning the new Express and picking up a refurbed last gen model.

Unfortunately I agree with the post above...

(Which sucks b/c I was looking into picking up the new AE and have been looking at ATV1s' on ebay for a similar setup)
