Hi all......This is my first post to the forum. I have enjoyed everyone's opinions, and i'd like to post my first impressions of my new 15" MBP, which i received yesterday.
First off, the unit look very similar to the powerbook, as everyone knows. The new enhancements are definetely really cool, especially the power adapter and video at the top of the screen. This has tremendous potential for future use, as i think it will be more commonplace to use video chat in the future. I like the evolutionary improvements of the machine.
The unit is definetely super fast, much faster than my 15" 1.5 ghz powerbook. My only qualms if any are the heat of the unit, especially after more than 30 minutes of use, and especially on the bottom of the unit. I was looking at movie trailers in bed last night and after about 20 minutes the unit was positiviely burning hot. It could have definetely caused 2nd degree burns if I had pushed the issue. I have heard other users make similar comments, with some saying their units are "cool" which I find to be an exageration, I don't see how this is possible. My unit was built to order, in week 25, so i assume it has all the updates, ie. logic board, so i assume that this is the normal behavior for the unit. i was going to try the ILAP to see if this makes the unit more comfortable on my lap, because without pants on, my legs would be burnt if i were wearing shorts. I don't recall this to be of the same magnitude with the powerbook. I just installed all available updates that were available, which had no change in the heat situation. My power settings are set to 'normal'.
If any has any coments or suggestions regarding the above comments I'd appreciate them, or if any prospective buyers have any questions, i'd be glad to help.
