So I am a first time jb-er. I had no idea what to expect but I did research for many days and finally concluded that I was ready to jb my iphone. I was extremely nervous because I'm a recent unemployed college grad and I wouldn't be able to afford another device if this one 'bricked' or whatnot. Despite some slight worries, I did it anyway.

Wow! What an easy process. It took less than 5 mins and all I had to do was press the jb button, and let it do it's thing! I'm ecstatic right now! I can't wait to explore and learn all about the ends and outs of cydia.

I've looked at lists at some of the must have cydia apps/tweaks and so far I've decided to get winterboard, bitesms, lockinfo, and some other basic things. I'm not looking to radically change my device just make some enhancements. Any other musthave apps/tweaks?

I'm a longtime lurker and first-time poster and this forum has been extremely helpful in my jb journey. Just wanted to let you all know about my experience!

I've jailbroken a few times, and this has been one of the easiest methods. Glad you don't have to boot into DFU to jailbreak anymore. Also check out NCSettings, it's one of my favorite jailbreak tweaks. Can't understand why Apple hasn't built this into iOS yet. It's been on Android for years now.

Yeah, Jailbreaking has been straightforward 1 click since like 2-3 years ago.

One of the most simplest and useful tweaks I use is NCSettings. It's clean and functional.

For apps I like NewTVShowstogo to watch popular tv shows

Your just at the start of the journey of the array of tweaks now available. Enjoy !!

same here OP.

first time and nervous as hell - not too happy if this stunt had turned my phone into a paperweight.

still, it all went smoothly. only getting red error alerts from cydia when trying to download winterboard.

but i guess everyone is having issues with cydia right now.

We don't need iTunes for this, do we? If not, I'm at a loss. My 6.1 4S is connected to the computer, but the Jailbreak button is grayed out and can't be pressed. It was opened with admin access on Windows 7 64-bit. Any ideas?

Theres a live thread running on the boards about jail-breaking using windows.

Have a look there my friend.

Thanks everyone!! And I had issues with winterboard as well. Maybe it's because of the overload to its servers? Maybe that will die down tonight

I can't wait to begin this journey! Thanks for the list. Also, one more thing, I've read about some security issues that can arise, by not changing the password alpine. Is that still applicable?

YEP this is by far the easiest J-B I've ever done, and just cause I've done 3g-3gs and iphone4 phone back when ios 4.3 I was still nervous as heck.. Now tonight I have to do wifes I5 hope it goes as smoothly as mine did...

Easiest Jailbreak would be from 4.3.3. All you had to do was go to jailbreakme.com on your phone and click jailbreak.
