So I want to be able to keep all my movies on my new 1TB Hard Drive and the rest of my music, tv shows on my iMac. Is there a way to do that? How would I source just the movies to one drive and everything else to the main HD. Is this possible?

Thanks!

I wrestled with this same problem. Ultimately, the easiest thing to do is go into iTunes preferences and uncheck the box that says "Copy files to iTunes folder when adding to library" under the advanced tab. This way, when you are storing movie files on the external(s), they won't be copied over... but you can still mange the iTunes folder with the music and tv shows that you want there (probably purchases from the ITMS). The only caveat with this is when you are adding music to your iTunes from a source other than the ITMS or a physical CD import....

Let me know if you need any more help setting this up, I've got all my music on the internal hard drive and the TV shows and Movies spread out over 3 Western Digital MyBook drives (320, 500, 750 GB).

You don't have to do was described in the longer post above though.

You can just hold down option while dragging files into iTunes, and they won't be copied. That way iTunes will still copy music and keep it nice and organized.

Not until you uncheck the "copy to my library" option. It will copy even with the option key held down unless that is unchecked, I believe.

Now wait, that doesn't make any sense. Why would you need to hold the option key to stop it from copying the file to the library if you've already unchecked the option? Either the option key trick works or it doesn't. I'm gonna go check.

update: yeah, holding option key when you drop a file into iTunes stops it from being copied to the library. Click the file drag it over iTunes and then hold the option key. The circle with the plus sign beside the file will disappear as an indicator. Note that you can't hold option before grabbing the file or it will hide the front most application (weird).
