Has anyone put a 1TB 2.5 hdd in a mini??

Any pro's or cons?

was going to buy a 500GB 7200 drive but I am a bit out of touch, then googled and saw 1TB 2.5 drives are now available for only £140 GBP!

I think the Mini cannot hold 12.5 mm hard drives, but only 9.5 mm.

I have not seen any of the latter with more than 500 GB, but I would love to be proven wrong.:)

The Mini can handle a 12.5mm HDD....there just won't be any air spare between it and the SuperDrive. With that said, the 750GB and 1TB WDs run at 5200RPM so heat shouldn't be an issue.

Probably a lot easier and cheaper to FW 800 a drive off the back. And since conventional hard drives will never saturate the SATA bus, any speed difference is negligible.

Not much cheaper for FW800, sad to say, always assuming that the OP has one of the newer Minis with that interface. I have always found (e)SATA to be much faster than FW800 in real life than even the benchmarks might suggest.
