Error 2005 came up and comes up every time. I get the phone back to recovery mode, but every time I try to restore it again, it ends in the same error.

The phone is 100% legit, unhacked, locked and under contract. Argh!

Same thing happened to me. Plug the cable into a different USB port (prefferably the rear, or if you already tried the rear, try the front top USB port)...that should make it work. It will take about 20 mins to recover and update to the new firmware.

Good luck!

Had a problem after doing a upgrade from 2.0.1 to 2.0.2. The iPhone3G had the upgrade, but would no longer connect to computer. Uninstalled all Apple software: iTunes, Quicktime, Apple mobile drivers, and Apple software update. Then reinstalled iTunes and all worked. I had to do this once before under guidance of Apple iPhone support. That time is was an bad iTune upgrade.
