2.0 Hackability?

I am a junior in high school, and don't have enough to buy an AT&T contract.

Does anyone know how easy 2.0 will be to hack, (or if we will be able to even do it) and if so, what the best way would be?

IRC pwned has unlocked the 2.0 firmware based on the current baseband; however, Apple may make some changes that could stop pwned. Best to wait for the first phones to come out.

Yeah, typical- people trying to actually own a good phone for a reasonable price (less than $60 a month). What's wrong with us jerks?

Does anyone think the iPod Touch will get an update and/or get a price drop now? I might have better luck with that...

Ya Joanna, we just can't wait, cuz, gee, some of us can't even get ATT right here in the good ole USA. My 8gb iphone works great on T-Mobile but being the creedy, never satisfied jerk that I am, I really would like the new phone when it comes out.

I don't think the OP question was out of line. I'm wondering the same thing. Seems like half the posts on these forums are "will it," whatever your "will it" is.

That's what Apple gets for their policy on not letting people choose their own carrier...
I think i can decide best on what carrier suits my needs in my own country, not uncle Stevie.
If everybody could buy the iPhone without a contract, no one would be really interested in hacking the thing, apart for some customizing maybe.

That's pretty much what they said about the 2.5G iPhone, so, well, you know...


The success to date in iPhone unlocking has nothing to do with security features or lack there of on Apple's part, but rather purely due to the huge public interest in unlocking. Where there is a will there's a way. The best 'skillz' aren't applied in Cupertino, instead in the basement, cracking the iPhone. Even if it takes time, it will be done.
