So I installed the 2.01 update this morning and instantly noticed that my phone now displays the E instead of 3G about 90% of the time. I thought maybe this was a graphical error but I checked speeds and I'm definitely on edge (pun intended). All the places I got 3G before, I now get EDGE. I live in downtown Chicago btw... we're supposed to be covered in 3G.

Should I take the phone back to Apple, do you think it's an AT&T problem? Anyone else experiencing the same thing?

Call at&t Customer Care or Apple Care, it is likely you have a corrupted file. If that doesn't work, then Apple will likely replace the phone.

So I called AT&T today and they had me reset the phone by holding the home and lock buttons for 10 seconds. Immediately after re-starting the phone recognized 3G but the speeds are still horrible. Using DSL Reports and iPhonespeedtest.com I get on average between 100-200kbps. Keep in mind I have an iPhone 3G, and am paying for 3G service. Is this enough of a reason to ask for a new phone? Will a new phone help, or do you think it's my service? If so... has anyone gotten anywhere with AT&T over speeds not being anywhere near advertised?

Having the same problem, seems since the update all I'm getting is EDGE instead of 3G? I just turned 3G off and back on and it seems to have come back momentarily. This is really upsetting.

My 3G seems slower after the update as well. I'm in northern Ireland. It wasn't amazing beforehand, buy now it's dead slow. What's annoying me more, though, is that my wifi connecton is REALLY flaky after this update. I can be a few feet from my router and it won't even detect it - then minutes later it'll have a full signal.

More infuriating is that resetting the phone doesn't help, unlike most other problems with the phone. And the problem isn't my router since both my Macbook and Xbox have solid connections.

Confusing stuff. Hopefully it'll get better with other, more significant updates.
