Does the 2.1 beta work well with the iPod touch? I'm not talkin about the new stuff, but general stuff like safari, music, or the apps from the app store. I was accepted into the developer program but I don't want to pay and update to 2.1 and find all sorts of bugs with the stuff I use a lot (safari, music, mail) and I don't think it's reasonable to buy another iPod touch JUST for development.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks in advance for responding.

Isn't that the reason you would be "testing" it?

If you don't want to test it with or without bugs, I'll gladly do it for you.

Account name & password plz. ;)

sorry if i didnt make it clear... i want to test my app, but i don't want to test my app if the BUILT IN applications are buggy and don't work. do you have the 2.1 beta? how stable are the BUILT IN applications? better or worse than current 2.0?

No, I haven't where do you apply?

I'm on my touch now, check http://developer.apple.com/iphone. It should have a link to the page where you apply.

Edit: on the right column, it has a link

Having an ADC account doesn't get you access to the 2.1 / 2.0.1 firmware
Having been accepted into the iPhone developer program and having paid the 99 buck fee doesn't (automatically) gain you access to the firmware either (near as I can tell)... I'm thinking edu / business and the initial 4000 that were approved prior to WWDC are the only ones (with some exceptions I'm sure) that can download and test the latest unreleased firmware.

do you have access to the portal? I heard that the activation code in the email is what activates the portal, not the payment
