Hello All

Ok stupidly i left Cydia and Installer in a Category folder when i upgraded to 2.1, so now when i follow the jailbreak Cydia doesn't actually show up.

Is there any way i can manually restore them to being visible, obviously i can't use poof as i can't get at Cydia, Help Please. I did make a backup of my iPhone a while ago using iBares, but i can't restore it as i can't add SSH cause i can't access Cydia, i am stuck in a bit of a Catch 22 here.

Help greatly appreciated!!

Cheers

Gareth

There was a new release that went out about 2 hours ago, which I presume solves the problem (I don't know, am waited for dev team release before upgrading). Not that any of this information is of any help to you though as you don't have Cydia.

Yeah good to know, but doesn't really help me now, doh!!

What i really need is a way to completely wipe my phone so it is totally clean again, then i can start again. I thought that doing a firmware restore achieved this, but apparently not.

Does anyone know if there is a way to manually restore the visability of Cydia, preferably through something like DiskAid which i have as i am on a mac, i do however have access to a vista system should i need to do it from windows.

I am such and idiot, why do i not think before doing these things.

I stand up and declare, i am a technology junkie!!

ssh into your phone

su (the password is alpine if you haven't changed it, it won't show asterisks as you type)
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade

Try that. Report back.

If not, you'll need to modify your com.apple.springboard.plist and add Cydia in there to make it show up. Not a big deal, but I'd try updating Categories first.

Or:
1. Sync your iPhone
2. Make a custom firmware with PwnageTool with Poof in it.
3. Restore to custom firmware.
4. Restore phone from your backup.
5. Poof should be visible, use it to unhide whatever needs unhiding.
