I backed up my photos before upgrading to 2.1. Once I had that installed I tried SSH'ing my pix back to the same location ( /private/var/mobile/Media/DCIM ), and they show up in the camera roll, but I can't delete any of them and when I take a new pic, it doesn't show up.

Is there a new location to where they are saved in 2.1?

When I delete them all out and take a pic, the new pic shows up in the camera roll, but when I goto that folder, nothing is in the old location.

I just hook it to the computer and read it like any other digital camera under the DCIM folder.
no, i'm trying to put the old pix back on the new 2.1 fw from the computer. the .jpg from the camera and the .png from the screen shots along w/ the accompanying file to allow them to auto rotate.

Just sync them with your photos.

Or email them all to yourself in one email and then tap and hold on one of them all you'll see an option "save all" ...

i know i can do that ...though that you can't easily delete them w/o syncing again.

it also still doesn't answer my question of where the new pix are saved to.

If you do the email -> save all thing then they'll be in your camera roll and you can delete them. It doesn't matter where they are saved because emailing them to yourself and saving them is a thousand times easier.
