2.16 Macbook crashes everyday!

Hey everyone, I just want to say that ever since I got leopard for my mac and updated to 10.5.1, my macbook crashes at least once a day! it is horrible, and it usually happens when I am running safari. It starts off with the pages not loading, then around ten seconds later I get the kernal warning saying I should restart the computer. I thought macs were reliable! my windows pc crashed only like two times in it's whole lifespan.

well i have a macbook same as yours and i have no crashes at all except i cant get independence to run at all for some reason but besides that nothing else check your ram and your HDD. Repair permissions and looking at your kernal panic log it has to do with your airport card. I have had crashes through that too i have one router at my step dads house and that router for some reason gave me kernal panics but the other one at my dads house never does. It could be a buffer overflow or something but for some reason the kernal panics stopped dont know why?

take it to the apple store right now have them check the logs they'll see the crashes and send it off or replace it right then and there... maybe it will even become a 2.2ghz mac u never know what will happen if your nice to apple

Are you sure its my router? can you confirm it? because if that is the case then I might as well just go off and buy a new one.

I would honestly hate to go to the apple-store and make them look at it, I have had too many problems with them lately. This is my third macbook, the first two were replaced all in the same week, plus when the guy came to inspect my laptop, he had it for five minutes and when it came back the top was scratched everywhere, and there was this one DEEP scratch that went across vertically, like someone keyed it, I went back and demanded a new one, which they kindly did.

Now this is my third macbook, which I honestly love, all the issues I resolved myself with the help of forums such as this one. (solved the whine with ShhMac or something, solved the squishly clicker by putting a piece of paper in between the battery, and brasso/ magic eraser it from time to time)

Everything about it is perfect on the outside, but it still crashes everyday, which makes me think about how reliable macs are

Do you think I can go there, tell them about my past experiences with their services, and just get a new 2.2ghz, not that I really care, but I wouldn't mind

Plus I would love to have 4gb in my mac, since it would be dual-channel, which i strangely feel funny about having 3? odd numbers with computers never work

I have been getting the same exact crashes with the same error log, pointing to the wireless.

I have a 2.16 c2d MBP. I am running smcFanControl, and I have noticed that in the last few days I turned the fans down a lot and apparently the laptop was getting too hot and and it would crash just like that.

It would be working just fine, then all of a sudden while I am surfing my internet would stop working. Then as soon as I clicked on the wireless status bar in the top right the gray line and screen from top to bottom would come down and the computer lock up.

I turned my fans back up a little bit and it hasn't since. It might be worth a try. smcFanControl.

Take it to the apple store to get it fixed. Simple as that. Don't download a program to try to get it to stop. You paid money for a reliable working laptop....Go get one.

I think that might be the case, since whenever the internet stops, my automatic response is to manually press my hotspot again, which is when it usually crashes. But why is it doing that I don't know, since I haven't adjusted my fans ever. Btw is it even possible for a bad router to crash a computer
I don't find turning up my fans as a liable solution, since that defeats the purpose of having a quiet laptop, and there is no reason to do that since my comp isn't overheating in the slightest. I went to the applestore and felt the top right of a macbook pro and WOW was it HOT, I couldn't keep my finger on it for more than five seconds.
If I go to the applestore, what do you think they might do, I don't think I have to send it to get it repaired, as it only happens when I'm browsing.
Did anyone have any bad experiences when they sent their macbooks or any other apple product in for repairs?

Lots of people are having this problem. Mine was doing it and then stopped. Hope they come up with an update soon to fix this.

k I just came back from the store, and the genius at the bar told me that it is NOT the router, since that it is highly unlikely that a router can crash a computer. And that since I updated the software for the airport card, it's not that. I concluded that it's either my network settings that is causing the problem, or that I have a faulty airport card, which would require a 3 day repair.
How did everyone else resolve this issue?
