2.16Ghz C2D iMac, disappointing CS3 peformance

Photohop CS3 doesn't seem to be that responsive on my 20" iMac with 2GB ramm. In fact my 2 years old Athlon 64 PC seems to be better.

It just seems slightly sluggish, say if I use the brush tool and I'll see the brush strokes complete AFTER I've finished moving my mouse. Stuff like that.

Anyone else have these issues?
 
Try repairing permissions (in Disk Utility)...I don't really know how much, but I have heard that XSlimmer makes Universal apps a bit faster (and you get a LOT of HD space)...is it Apple RAM, and are there other slow performances in different apps?
