2.16GHz Core Duo MBP vs. 2.0 Ghz Core 2 Duo MB

The title says it pretty much. Both are refurbished.

Are the benefits to having a MBP versus MB that much better than getting the Core 2 Duo processor? Is the Core 2 Duo processor that much faster that the .16 Ghz difference is negilible?

Does the MB light up from the keyboard? Does it come with a remote too?

The Core 2 duo one is about 1099 versus the 1499 for the MBP.

The MacBook does come with a remote, but it doesn't have a backlit keyboard like the MBP.

I'd probably say go with the MacBook as it's a C2D but what will you primarily be doing with your laptop?

I'm in the exact same situation. I'd say go along to an Apple Store and try them both out, the MBP CD may be a bit harder to test though.

In my experience, the .16 extra is hardly noticable, but the screen size is. That's the only reason I'm looking at a MBP over a MB; a 15" screen is the ideal size for me.

But yeah, seriously consider what you'll be using your machine for and then make your decision based on that.

Macbook and MacBook Pro's both come with remotes. Only the MBP's keyboard lights up.

The MacBook Pro also has a dedicated graphics card - perfect if you are going to play games or do some extreme video/photo editting.

MBP has a 15.4" screen as opposed to 13.3". Extra 2" provide higher resolution - fit more on your screen etc.

Depends what you want out of a computer. Both the MB and MBP are Core 2 Duo's now and both have "N" wireless networking (5x speed of b/g, twice the range).

yeah I wonder if the faster processor on thecore 2 duo is really that much better than the having a better video card.

I was planning on using the laptop for computer games mostly. Nice, I guess I like having the dimming keyboard thing but I like the idea of having a bigger monitor more.

I'm wondering if the core2 duo is less heat intensive so the computer doesn't run hot.

If you are going to use it for games then get the MBP. It will be faster (much faster) for anything 3d.
I don't think you will have problems with heat, but you can return if you are not happy (playing games with mbp on your lap will make you feel uncomfortable ).
You will have the whine.
