Over the weekend, my friend, who works at tmobile, told me that a man came into the store to add data to his plan.

the phone he had was a iphone 3g with 2.2.1, when he put the data on their, the man showed my friend that it was working on edge and 3g. he turned 3g off and on mulitple times and still got it.

i said thats impossible, the guy from Hong Kong said he got his phone unlocked and jailbroken from a apple store and came over here.

edit: heres a link - http://store.apple.com/hk/browse/home/shop_iphone/family/iphone?mco=MTE2NTQ
apprantley, you can buy it unlocked from apple and simply put your tmobile simcard and it works!

You are wrong about being able to buy an jailbroken iPhone from HK apple store. I live in HK and bought my iPhone from HK apple store. The iPhone is ONLY unlocked but NOT jailbroken. I can use any telecom service provider around the world.
