2.2.1 to 3.0

I'm using a jailbroken/unlocked iPhone 3G running on the 2.2.1 firmware and 02.28.00 baseband and want to update to the 3.0 firmware. I've been reading around both on MR and iClarified but I'm still confused as to which method is correct and most effective..

Anyone care to point me in the right direction?

Google usually.

But update to 3.0, then use redsn0w(jailbreak), then ultrasn0w(unlock).

For some reason I'm unable to extract the RedSn0w zip file.. Anyone know why?

Don't download it with safari, use firefox.

I did but when ever I double click on the RedSn0w zip to extract it -- it opens it with Script Editor.

It appears that it is not even a compressed file that needs to be extracted..

With all due respect, seeing as you're having problems just DL and extracting files, are you sure you are up to doing this on your own ???
