2.2 vs 2.3, gaming. I know it's been asked before...

Hey M.R Gamers,
I'm looking to buy a new 15" Macbook Pro. I have a situation. This proposed 100mhz and 2 mb L3 cache difference just seems like a money-sucker to induce buyer's remorse for those who didn't pay over 10% the price for a below-5% performance increase (as the numbers say). This question has been asked millions of times since February, however I have my own context in which I'd like to ask, so here goes. I'm in High school, and therefore the majority of my computer work would not benefit from this sort of upgrade. Itunes, Safari, Imovie, CoD4, light/med. photoshop, and writing. Those couldn't possibly benefit, and if they do, perhaps I could make it out if I was practicing some Zen focusing technique. But should I intend to take my hardware for a real stroll, like Starcraft 2, MW2+, Crysis 2, advanced gaming, and uses of 4+ Gigabyes of 1333 memory, will I get FPS differences? Load time differences of over 5 seconds? Cause really, the only thing that's threatening to take $225.00 from me is buyer's remorse at this point. And I can kill that off. Anyone have any opinions? (sorry for making you read all that b.t.w)

just get the 2.2, the price tag on the .1ghz upgrade is just not worth it.
 
There's no reason to get the 2.3GHz chip at the price they sell it for - you'd have more remorse for wasting the money. Your games won't get any more FPS. You're way better off getting an SSD & 8GB RAM instead.

I guess that you don't buy new one because there is no 2.2 or 2.3ghz for new 15 inch macbook pro right now. 2.0, 2.2 only. you don't need too much GPU power for your study as you said you are high school student. I think that you'd better get 13inch. that's way enough. I don't know what you use for it, and you are only student. you don't work for company. you don't need that much horse power. if you want gaming, don't buy mac. sorry. with that money, you can get much better PC gaming machine.

2.3 is an upgrade for the 2.2 model and is available as a customization on new 2011 MBP's (15" & 17")

I can't stand PC's. I'm sorry. I just can't My friends buy PC's and tell me they feel sad about my computer every time they look at it's GPU. Then their memory terminals get problems or their screens fall out the back. I want an all-in-one dream computer because just right now, it so happens that I can afford it. Macs have many things about them that I like, and from my uncles (all of whom are marine biologists) to my school friends, they get better satisfaction from the hardware and OS. I'm going with the 2.2 mainly for the graphics chip. I want to do lots of art work and gaming, and because I don't plan to upgrade again till the ending years of Highschool or later, I want to have the best configuration I can get, especially if I can get so much extra for 500 or so dollars. I use a 13" right now for my school needs, but there are numerous operations such as in photoshop, imovie, and of course games, that an i7 and an ATI 67XXm hardware brotherhood could help with.
