I am going to make the switch from PC (whenever the Apple store comes back up). Going with the 24" , 1 GB Ram (will upgrade to 4 gig ram at newegg :)

Only thing that has me puzzled is the processors.

Why would I want to the 2.8? What are the advantages than being .4 faster.

Help me out please.

I would say none. As the vid card is bad, isn't Intel using the extreme chips as gaming chips? If thats the case, I wouldn't waste my money on it. I could be wrong, anyone have a real use for the extreme chip?

Bragging rights + you'll more than likely keep the machine a bit longer. 400mhz is a lot. Hell, 7 years ago that was the speed of the computer.

I wont be using this machine for any gaming. I like my 360 for that.

I will use Adobe design and video editing from my camcorder, internet, music, and word.

Will upgrade to 4 gig ram from new egg b/c of the price difference.

So should I just get the 2.4 or the 2.8 Its a $225 option.

Does anybody know what type of processors the iMacs sport? Are they still Merom's or are they finally Conroes?
