I've had one on order since August 27. Today Apple told my resller that "we just have not been shipping these 2.8GHz units."

Anybody else?

Same here (Belgium): ordered a 2.8GHz on aug 16th and was told today it wouldn't ship for another 3 weeks at least (that would make it 7 weeks!). It appears that my reseller hasn't received *any* 2.8GHz unit so far. I canceled my order and placed it at the apple store. ETA is 20-21/9 (that's 1 week from now). Still, I'll believe it when it is sitting on my desk :). But it does seem that Apple really is treating their resellers badly...

Yes, apple is treating their resellers, and subsequently it's customers, poorly. I ordered on the 9th (of August). 5 weeks and no word if it will ship.

Not to make anone grumpy but when I got my 2.8, I wasn't even looking to get it. I went to the Apple store and was lloking to get the 24" 2.4 because the previous week they said they weren't getting the 2.8's. So when he brought my baby out and rung it up on the register it was $300 more. He brought out a 2.8 on accident. I said "don't even think of putting it back in your inventory! I'll take it!"

I ordered my 2.8 from the Apple store on Sept. 3 and recieved it Sept. 12. It was a special order, since I wanted it with only 1GB of memory (so I can add in my own 4GB). I got it 2 days before the Apple store said I would. Maybe it is the resalers.

I also ordered mine from the online apple store....got it within a week or so...

I ordered the 2.8 with 1 gb of ram as well...

I am still friggin' waiting for mine as I ordered on Aug. 14th in the morning. It's been 5 weeks... was supposed to ship by Sept.12-14, has not shipped yet, it's Sept.15 in China, Apple Warehouse is closed and not shipping, it's past 7 am there!.

Also, I kept phoning Apple after speaking with various useless departments not willing to help reseller customers, if I was online customer they would help as mentioned before. But anyways, after speaking with Apple Canada Customer Relations for the third time and mentioning my case # and product not shipped yet as mentioned, she just heard my frustration with delays and unfair apple tactics, she put me on hold and came back and apple finally caved in and admitted problems and will send me a $125 voucher towards any apple product purchase. At least it's better than $100 off online customers were crying for and getting instantly or even free wireless upgrades. I am still waiting for a call from distributor as was told by reseller. This is due to complaint that apple online store telling me to cancel order with reseller and buy from them. Apple really wants to drive resellers out of business with tactics like that especially preferential shipping treatments.

Could you please tell us which reseller were you buying from?

Wow, sorry to hear about that. Usually, I try to order from Apple directly. I ordered mine and got it in a couple of weeks (and I customized it too.) I've been tempted before to get it from a reseller cuz they usually add some nice little add-ons but I guess for new products it's not a good idea. Good luck and let us know who you're getting it through.

I order my iMac 28" 8aug here in Sweden. And i still havent got my computer. So it´s just to wait and see if the dame computer will come this year or next year..

I ordered a 2.8 iMac from a reseller Aug 9th. USP shows it just reached my city today. Unfortunately, it sits there until Monday.

However, on Monday I'll finally be receiving the 2.8 I ordered from a reseller. Took long enough.

I ordered the 2.8 this past tuesday, it's saturday and i already have the tracking number. I think for you guys who order from reseller when you can order from apple directly is probably not worth the money you save and for all the possible hassle from applecare.

A friend of mine asked a reseller here in Sweden about the 2.8 and they said that they still haven't got any info from Apple on when or even if they were going to get it.
If this is true, then I'd blame the resellers for taking orders on something they don't know when to expect.

2.8Ghz iMac not shipping

I ordered mine at CAMI, Brussels on August 28. The shop told me the delivery time was to be 1 to 2 wks. Afterwards I was told 2 to 3, then 3 to 4. I did not order directly to Apple shop (claiming 2 wks delivery) because the Cami shop charges 20 € amministrative fees if you need repairs and the computer is not ordered to them. I'd like to go to Apple directly but I shall lose a down payment of 300€ (over 400 $). Prices in Europe are quite high and I would question why Apple does not ship to resellers. The commission is handsomely payed by the final customer (An iMac 2.8 GHz, 500 HD 1 GB Ram and wireless mouse is about 3210$). Can anyone guess when I shall receive mine?

If the box not will be shiped next week, i will force my reseller to put in more memory and 500GB/1TB in a 2.4 and i take it too the same price as a orginal.
I have wait for it to long now, and im abit angry for the lie and stuff i get from them.
What he says the order is in the "system", but the queue from china is to big right now. So this next week out he will have to fix my box.

SHIPPING DATE HAS BEEN DELAYED BY APPLE AGAIN FROM: SHIPPED BY SEPT.12-14 TO SEPT. 18-20 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I called Apple Canada Online store and if I cancel they would ship 1-3 to FedEx Facility and 3-4 days to my place. They have confirmed inventory for themselves but not for Resellers.
What the F#@* is going on....?????? This is the available wired mouse/kybrd set 2.8Ghz order not wireless set that apple released later. Bought this on Aug. 14 a.m. from reseller in Markham, Ont.

I think the amount of problems with these latest iMacs are significant enough to cause hold ups in production until problems are ironed out.
I could be wrong of course, but thats my hunch.

Apple's online store says 1-2 business days. At this point it's best to order directly through them. Understand that Apple has to satisfy customers that order from them as well. The resellers may not get first priority. If you are buying from a reseller to get free ram or a slight discount then you will either have to wait or cancel. Sometimes the small deals aren't worth the hassle.

Most people that have ordered directly from Apple including myself have gotten their iMac on time without delay. It's the reseller's responsibility to satisfy their customer's timely orders and not Apple's.

My guess would be that it has more to do with the limited supply of 2.8GHz chips. If I remember correctly, these chips were introduced by Intel on aug 22nd, two weeks *after* Apple announced the new iMacs. It wouldn't surprise me if Apple is holding back all batches of 2.8GHz chips for themselves (maybe they underestimated the success of these chips?)...

Well, I know it's been a total pain and the wait is tough, but once you get it, I'm sure you'll be so thrilled with it, that you'll quickly forget about the wait. Good luck!

Finally, it's moving amazingly fast across the continent. Apple issued me a voucher for $125, any apple purchasesn from apple, but there's a catch... minimum purchase of $375. Oh well. better than nothing... as there's always something to buy from apple.

Ordered directly from the Apple Store online.

Well Im still waiting for my iMac!!

I ordered on the 11th August 07 through a reseller and it is now the 19th and still no news!

I was told on the 10th that it had shipped and was to be delivered to the reseller by the 14th or the 17th..

Well the 17th has come and gone still no computer, and after an argument with the reseller and a promise that he will call me with information by the close of business yesterday, still no clue as to when i will get it...

Im really pissed by this, not a good intro into the Mac world for a first time buyer of Mac products..

Any suggestions as to what i should do??
