Is there any data on this comparing these two? I have the 2.8ghz and 2MB NVIDIA 8800GS one now but have the opportunity to "upgrade" through Apple "at a cost" because I have a buzzing monitor. So, what do you guys think? Is it worth it?

...BTW I meant 2GB v 4GB RAM!

If your talking about the 3.06 then yes upgrade, if your talking about the Ram how much is it, cause you can get more ram for less then apple sells.

A 2.8GHz CPU with 4GB of RAM will likely, overall, be a better performer then a 3.06GHz unit with 2GB - or at least close enough that the money you saved will be of more value. :)

Though do not buy the extra RAM from Apple as you can save significant money going third party.

If you're asking whether or not it's worth it to upgrade from the 2.8Ghz 2GB RAM machine to a 3.06Ghz 4GB machine you're going to have to stipulate what value "at a cost" is. Unless Apple is giving you a slick deal then just upgrade the RAM yourself.

I would upgrade simply because the 3.06 will last you a little longer in terms of performance.

Don't buy RAM from Apple. Wait a bit and buy from OWC or any other seller. They work same yet are way cheaper. Oh and the difference between 2 and 4GB is noticeable.
